Management Self Assessment Standards

Organisation and staffing structure:

3.1 There are agreed and documented roles and responsibilities, which are current and consistent with the organisation's forward plan and quality improvement strategies, for:

  • All management positions.
  • Committees/board of management for non-government organisations.
  • All staff positions.

3.2 The service has documented and implemented a staff performance and appraisal program for all staff.

3.3 The organisation has a staff training plan which:

  • Is consistent with the current objectives and priorities of the organisation.
  • Is consistent with the roles and responsibilities of staff.
  • Has been developed from an analysis of individual staff skills and experience.
  • Comprises orientation, induction and ongoing training strategies.
  • Involves consumers in the training need analysis.
  • Involves consumers in the training delivery.

3.4 Orientation information and training includes:

  • Organisational values and beliefs.
  • Service activities.
  • Management structure.
  • Identification of consumer target group, including general and special needs.
  • Identification of appropriate service outcomes.
  • Identification of appropriated direct service delivery.

3.5 All new staff complete orientation and induction within the recommended time lines.

3.6 The organisation has a dedicated budget for staff development and training.
