At field we promote and model a culture of learning for people with disability, the disability services workforce and the community to create a more inclusive society.This is in the context of a broad social agenda driven by human rights.
New Updates
Congratulations on hitting the new home page of the freshly named field – the new incarnation of, DISTSS.
After years of operating as DISTSS, growing and refining what we do, we proudly launched our new name and look on December 12 th 2008 at the Difference – source for growth exhibition at Gasworks Arts Park with our colleagues and supporters of our work.
Why the name change
Our name has changed to better reflect our work. We are about growth, inclusion and creativity.
Our focus is on working with the community, as well as the disability sector, to be more inclusive of people with disability. Learning in all its varied forms, including training, is how we do this.
Why “field”
field captures the idea of an area of knowledge and expertise plus a sense of space, openness and possibility.
The field logo represents different spheres that are unique but interconnected.
What’s different?
We look different, our name sounds different (we can say it now!), but does that mean that all the useful things DISTSS did are finished? NO – we have been careful to find out what people liked about DISTSS and the activities and resources people found helpful and useful. These things are still a part of field; we intend to improve on these as well as offer some new and innovative directions in learning and development. Like the name says, we are about growing and being productive.
